In August 2017, my Fiance and I travelled just 30mins down the road to Secret Cloud House Holidays in Staffordshire for our anniversary. Have you ever been glamping? I hadn’t but I’d been camping lot’s of times growing up so was very excited for the experience.
We chose Secret Cloud simply because you seemed to get a lot for your money. In the middle of summer the yurts were £150 per night with a minimum 2-night stay however remember that this was just 30mins down the road so we got a lift there and a lift back. With no travel costs to consider we felt this price was fair for a 3 day holiday.
Also included in the price was breakfast each day made from local Staffordshire products, private hot tub and all the kindling and wood you would need. There was also a gypsy van on site with a masseuse and showers, lockers, fridge, freezer and charge ports so this site gives more than your usual glamping site so we felt the price, although high, was fair for what you got.
Not included in the price – but something we opted to pay more for – was an on-site masseuse. She was located in a gypsy caravan in the most spiritual little space I’ve ever had the joy of being in. We both had 30 minute treatments and I would fully recommend her services.
One of my favourite things about glamping was cooking. It’s like camping but I actually had a stove. So I made fire-cooked jacket potatoes, chicken and pepper skewers, baked camembert and full english every morning. We took lots of water to drink, lemonade and a bottle of prosecco to have in the hot tub to celebrate 4 years together.
I highly recommend this place if you’re looking to switch off but keep a little bit of luxury!
